Ten City of Logan students have received a welcome financial boost as they prepare to begin university studies, thanks to a partnership between Logan City Council and local businesses.
The students were awarded tertiary bursaries through the City of Logan Tertiary Educational Bursaries program, which provides $5,000 per recipient over three years to help ease the cost of higher education. The funding is designed to support essential expenses such as textbooks, technology and study resources during the transition from school to university.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven said the bursaries were about giving local students the confidence and support to start their next chapter on the right foot.
“Leaving school can be exciting, but it can also be uncertain,” Mayor Raven said. “These bursaries help remove some of the financial pressure so students can focus on learning and building their future.”
The 2026 recipients will study a range of disciplines including law, engineering, nursing, business, midwifery and biomedical science at institutions such as QUT, Griffith University and the University of Queensland.
Mayor Raven said the program highlighted the importance of local businesses investing in young people and strengthening education pathways across the city.
“These students represent the future of Logan, and we’re proud to support them as they take this important step forward,” he said.
