A 27-year-old man has been shot by police following an incident at a shopping centre in Logan Central on Saturday evening.
Police were called to the Carmody Centre car park on Ewing Road about 6pm after reports of a man armed with a knife allegedly damaging property and making threats.
According to the Queensland Police Service, officers attempted to engage with the man upon arrival. It is alleged he then approached police while still holding the weapon, prompting officers to discharge their firearms.
The man was shot and immediately treated at the scene by police before being transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further medical care.
No police officers or members of the public were physically injured during the incident.
A crime scene has been declared as investigations continue. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The incident is now under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission, as is standard procedure for police-involved shootings.
