Police Appeal After Stolen Car Linked to Motorway Assault

Police are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into a stolen vehicle believed to be linked to a serious assault on the Gold Coast earlier this month.

Detectives say a silver 2020 Subaru Outback, bearing Queensland registration 679MM4, was stolen during a break-in at a Pimpama home on Matasha Crescent around 3am on April 2.

The following night, at about 1.50am on April 3, the vehicle was allegedly involved in an incident on the Pacific Motorway at Currumbin, near the Stewarts Road on-ramp. Police allege the Subaru was travelling in convoy with a stolen black Land Rover Discovery when the Land Rover was intercepted by officers.

It is alleged the occupants fled into the Subaru before leaving the scene. During the incident, a man attempting to intervene was assaulted and suffered a head injury, requiring hospital treatment.

The Subaru was last seen travelling north on the motorway, and police believe it may still be in the Gold Coast area.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has dashcam or CCTV footage from Pimpama, Currumbin or surrounding areas between April 2 and 3 is urged to contact police, quoting reference QP2600642745.
