Drainage Upgrade to Begin on Mollenhagen Road

Major drainage reconstruction works will begin on Mollenhagen Road next month as part of ongoing recovery efforts following recent severe storms and heavy rainfall.

The project will involve removing damaged drainage infrastructure and installing two new reinforced concrete box culverts, designed to improve water flow and increase resilience during future weather events. Rock protection will also be added around the culverts to strengthen the site against erosion.

Excavation will be required throughout the works, with a temporary one-lane access track and traffic signals in place for approximately three months. Motorists are advised to expect stop-go conditions and allow extra travel time while the project is underway.

Construction is scheduled to commence this month, with completion expected by August 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

The upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), aimed at restoring and strengthening critical infrastructure.

Council says the improvements will deliver a safer, more reliable roadway for residents and better protect the area from future storm damage.
