Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash at Maudsland

A woman has died and a young girl remains in hospital following a serious three-vehicle crash at Maudsland on the northern Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to Maudsland Road around midday on Sunday after a Mitsubishi ASX station wagon, a Mazda 3 hatchback and a Mazda BT-50 utility collided.

Police said the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 41-year-old woman from Coomera, suffered critical injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

An 11-year-old girl travelling in the same vehicle was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition. Police confirmed she is now in a stable condition.

The occupants of the two Mazda vehicles were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash and is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

The incident caused major disruptions in the area as emergency crews and investigators remained on scene for several hours.
