Southport Man Faces 19 Charges Under Operation Forge

A Southport man has been charged with 19 offences following an arrest linked to a series of alleged property crimes across the Gold Coast.

The arrest was carried out by detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch as part of Operation Forge, a statewide policing initiative targeting repeat offenders and property crime.

Police allege officers were conducting enquiries on 6 May when they located a stolen vehicle fitted with false registration plates at Broadwater Parklands around 9am.

Following further investigations, detectives allegedly found the 29-year-old man hiding inside public toilets at the parklands, where he was arrested without incident.

During searches, officers allegedly uncovered stolen bank cards, vehicle keys and drug utensils. Police also claim the stolen vehicle contained multiple stolen tyres and rims, including four allegedly taken from a dealership on High Street on 2 May.

The tyres and rims are valued at more than $14,000.

The Southport man faces a lengthy list of charges including fraud, receiving tainted property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, multiple property offences and traffic-related offences.

He is due to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on 21 May as investigations continue.
