A man has been charged following a series of alleged incidents involving a stolen vehicle across southeast Queensland over several days.
Police allege a Mazda CX-5 was stolen from a Kangan Court address in Shailer Park around 5:45am on May 15.
The vehicle was later sighted in the Logan area that afternoon before being tracked into Brisbane’s south. Officers deployed a tyre deflation device at Drewvale in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
Police allege the car continued for a short distance before colliding with a Ford Ranger on Illaweena Street, Drewvale. The driver of the Mazda allegedly fled the scene on foot and was not immediately located.
Following further investigations, the man was located at Kingston around 10:40pm the same day and taken into custody without incident.
He has since been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of fraud. He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 18.
Police say investigations into other related matters remain ongoing.
