As work continues on the new Coomera Hospital, much of the focus has been on cranes, construction and expanding healthcare services for the northern Gold Coast. Behind the scenes, however, another major piece of the project is taking shape, the digital systems that will help the hospital operate from day one.
Project Manager (Digital) Daniel Corrin is part of the team responsible for delivering the hospital’s information and communication technology infrastructure. His role involves ensuring everything from internal systems to clinical technology is properly integrated before the facility opens.
Corrin, who has worked on several Queensland Health projects including the Gold Coast University Hospital expansion and Tugun Satellite Health Centre, said the role combines technology with patient care outcomes.
“In simple terms, I help make sure the technology inside new facilities works the way it’s meant to,” he said.
The redesigned Coomera Hospital will include at least 600 beds, emergency and maternity services, operating theatres and expanded clinical facilities. Corrin said one of the biggest advantages of the redesign was that technology had been embedded early into the planning process.
He believes the completed hospital will play a major role in supporting the Gold Coast’s rapidly growing northern corridor for decades to come.
