Logan City Council has adopted a new Standing Committee structure designed to align its day-to-day decision-making with the city’s long-term strategic vision, Logan 2075.
The revised committee framework was endorsed as part of Council’s commitment to delivering ambitious goals for the city over the next five decades. Mayor Jon Raven said the changes would help ensure the vision becomes embedded in Council operations and future planning.
“We’ve set our sights on some ambitious long-term goals to push the city forward purposefully,” Mayor Raven said.
“Our committees meet monthly to discuss and debate the programs and services we deliver, so it makes sense to align their names and focus areas with Logan 2075.”
The new committee structure includes the Governance and Transformation Committee, chaired by Councillor Paul Jackson; the City Shape, Economic Transformation and Transport Committee, chaired by Deputy Mayor Scott Bannan; the Water, Waste and Energy, Natural Areas Committee, chaired by Councillor Miriam Stemp; and the Thriving Community Committee, chaired by Councillor Mindy Russell.
The committees met for the first time last week, with their recommendations presented to Council’s latest Ordinary Meeting.
The Logan 2075 vision was formally endorsed in April and outlines a long-term roadmap for the city’s future growth and development. Council is expected to begin work on a series of 10-year strategic plans to support the vision, subject to funding approval in the 2026–27 Budget.
Council leaders say the new structure will help guide Logan’s growth while ensuring a strong focus on governance, sustainability, economic development and community wellbeing.
