Ipswich residents are being encouraged to help shape the future of the city centre, with public consultation now open on a series of major projects designed to revitalise Ipswich Central.
The Ipswich Central Heart: Arts, Commerce and Urban Greening project includes concept plans for a streetscape refresh of Brisbane Street, an expanded Ipswich Art Gallery, redevelopment of the Ipswich Civic Centre, upgrades to the Cultural Heart precinct, and a new city centre bikeway.
Mayor Teresa Harding said the consultation was an opportunity for the community to help create a more connected, vibrant and welcoming city.
“We know Ipswich people care deeply about their city, and their input directly influences better outcomes,” Cr Harding said.
The project aims to deliver greener public spaces, improved active transport connections and enhanced arts and cultural facilities, while strengthening Ipswich’s reputation as a destination for creativity and entertainment.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the Australian Government had committed $3.8 million to fund detailed designs through the Urban Precincts and Partnerships Program.
He said the project would support local jobs, attract more visitors and complement ongoing investment in the Ipswich CBD.
Community feedback will help refine the designs before the projects progress. Consultation is open until Sunday, August 2, with residents invited to share their ideas online.
