Nominations Open for Logan’s Community Champions

Logan’s unsung heroes, inspiring leaders and outstanding achievers are once again being recognised, with nominations now open for the 2027 City of Logan People’s Excellence Awards.

Delivered by Logan City Council, the annual awards celebrate residents who make a meaningful contribution to the community across a wide range of fields, from arts and heritage to sport, innovation, environmental sustainability, volunteering and social impact.

Mayor Jon Raven encouraged the community to nominate those whose dedication often goes unnoticed.

“The first City of Logan People’s Excellence Awards highlighted the incredible talent we have right here in our growing city,” Mayor Raven said.

“Last year we received more than 120 nominations. Our most outstanding community members are often the most humble, so it’s important we take the time to recognise them.”

Among the awards is the prestigious Mayor’s Excellence Award, presented to the individual who has made the most significant contribution to the city during the past year.

The inaugural recipient was lifelong volunteer Gail Harrower, recognised for her tireless support of vulnerable community members through Logan Hospital’s palliative care services and her leadership of Mission Possible, a volunteer network of more than 500 people.

Ms Harrower encouraged residents to nominate those who quietly make a difference through kindness and selfless service.

Nominations close on December 13, 2026, with winners to be announced at a special awards ceremony in May 2027.
