Police are investigating a series of alleged break-ins, attempted burglaries and vehicle thefts across Wavell Heights after an overnight crime spree in Brisbane’s north.
The incidents occurred between the night of July 21 and the early hours of July 22, with detectives alleging a group of offenders targeted several homes and vehicles throughout the suburb.
Police received reports of vehicles being unlawfully entered in Rilatt Street and Hoey Street, with property stolen during some of the incidents. Attempts were also allegedly made to enter homes on Bayview Terrace and Stadcor Street, but entry was not gained.
Investigators allege offenders later broke into a home on Varcoe Street and stole a green Volkswagen T-Cross before entering a Highlands Street residence about 5.20am and stealing three vehicles, including two grey Hyundai Tucsons and a white Toyota RAV4.
One of the stolen Hyundai Tucsons was recovered abandoned in Chermside less than an hour later, while the Toyota RAV4 was located in McDowall around 7.30am. Other stolen vehicles remain outstanding.
Detectives from the Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch are treating the incidents as linked and are appealing for anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or information to contact police as investigations continue.
