Flagstone residents now have access to a new $8 million community hub, marking a major milestone for one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing communities.
The Flagstone Parklands Community Hub officially opened this week, providing local families with meeting spaces, multipurpose rooms and community services close to home.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven said the new centre represented an important investment in Flagstone’s future as the community continues to grow.
The hub is the first of several community facilities planned for the area under Council’s Community Infrastructure Plan 2024 to 2041.
Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks said residents had long called for a dedicated community space. Greater Flagstone is expected to reach a population of 138,000 when fully developed.
Facilities include a dedicated maker space for creatives and direct access to the Flagstone Adventure Playground. The building also features solar panels, provision for electric vehicle charging stations, bike facilities and accessible amenities.
Artwork at the front of the building was created by First Nations local artist Jessica Skeen.
Community service provider Beaucare will operate the centre, providing a base for its existing services while expanding its engagement with the local community.
Located at 51 Parklands Drive, the Flagstone Parklands Community Hub is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
The new facility is expected to provide a range of community services and activities for residents for years to come.
