24/7 Library Access Arrives in Beaudesert

Residents in Beaudesert can now access library services around the clock following the launch of new Smart Lockers and Smart Return Shelves at the local library.

The Scenic Rim initiative allows users to collect reserved items 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the lockers conveniently located outside the library entrance. The upgrade was officially unveiled at a community event led by Councillor Kerri Cryer, highlighting a major step forward in modernising local services.

Councillor Cryer said the technology was designed to better suit busy lifestyles. “Whether you’re a shift worker or a parent juggling commitments, you can now access your library when it suits you,” she said.

The Smart Return Shelves complement the lockers by enabling users to return items independently using existing RFID technology. Returned items are instantly processed and made available for others, reducing wait times and improving circulation.

Council says the upgrades will also allow staff to focus more on personalised support and community programs.

The new systems are now fully operational at Beaudesert Library on Brisbane Street, marking a shift toward more flexible and accessible library services for the growing Scenic Rim community.
