Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area Set for Nature-Focused Park Upgrades

Planning is underway to upgrade the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, enhancing visitor facilities while protecting one of the Gold Coast’s most significant natural environments. The 1,200-hectare protected bushland reserve offers opportunities to experience native wildlife, walking trails, and unique ecosystems.

The concept plan, developed with community input, focuses on improving accessibility and visitor experience without compromising conservation values. Proposed upgrades include new public amenities, expanded car parking and a bus turnaround on Lakelands Road, and improved walking and cycling trails.

Visitors can also look forward to upgraded boardwalks, bird hides, a nature play area, and new educational features such as a shelter, lake lookout tower, and viewing platforms. Trail networks will offer short, medium, and long-distance options to suit all users.

The project is currently in the planning and design phase, with construction expected to begin from 2026–27 onwards, supporting both recreation and environmental protection.
