Flood Mapping Review Heads to Special Logan Council Meetings

Logan City Council will hold two Special Council Meetings later this month and in early June as it continues reviewing flood mapping concerns raised by residents across the city.

The first meeting, scheduled for May 27, will focus on the independent review of the Logan and Albert Rivers Flood Study. A second meeting on June 4 will examine flood mapping policies and how flood risk information is presented to the community.

Mayor Jon Raven said community feedback had played a major role in shaping Council’s current approach, including the decision to commission an independent review and investigate issues raised by property owners.

Around 20,000 residents affected by flood mapping changes introduced in August 2025 are expected to receive update letters from Council by mid-May outlining the review process and next steps.

Council is also continuing to assess submissions received as part of the draft Logan Plan consultation process.

All community members can continue to provide feedback on how flood risk information is displayed on the Logan Flood Portal until May 18 at haveyoursaylogan.com.au/projects/logan-flood-portal

Mayor Raven said the review was part of broader changes to flood risk management introduced across Queensland following the 2011 Flood Commission of Inquiry, with Council aiming to ensure the system works effectively for Logan residents into the future.
