Beyond the Broncos Boys Program Launches at Beaudesert State High

Beaudesert State High School has made history by becoming the first school in Queensland to launch a Beyond the Broncos boys program, unveiled during the school’s NAIDOC Week celebrations in July.

The school has run the successful Beyond the Broncos girls program since 2022, with 17 young women graduating so far and a further eight students expected to complete the program in 2025. The newly introduced boys program, funded by the Queensland Department of Education, extends similar support to young men.

The launch was attended by members of the Mununjali Elders Group, along with representatives from Mununjali Housing and Development.

Former student Daniel Murtagh, who graduated in 2024, welcomed the initiative, saying it would provide vital support and stronger connections for male students. The school principal Damien Burke said the program aims to address long-standing attendance and achievement gaps while fostering leadership and life skills.

The Beyond the Broncos boys program will support students throughout high school, helping prepare them for success beyond graduation.
