Family fun this August at the Leyburn Sprints

The Historic Leyburn Sprints will be one of Queensland’s biggest annual motorsport events when a record 260 historic, classic and performance cars contest the 29th edition on 23-24 August.

Classic Le Mans-type Ferraris and Jaguars and modern supercars to Aussie tin-tops and even a 101-year-old French Amilcar will contest round-the-houses time trials in celebration of the 1949 Leyburn Australian Grand Prix.

Visitors to the tiny Southern Downs town of Leyburn – usual population around 350 – can expect a packed menu of off-track entertainment too.

Several famous former drivers will attend as VIP guests, including Queensland 150 Icon Dick Johnson.

A new Vintage Van Village featuring colourful restored caravans, a Show and Shine, charity auction, fun run, market stalls, live music and helicopter and race-car rides will add to the fun.

Adult ticket, $30 per day or $40 for the weekend – are available at the gate or on-line.  Accompanied children under 14 enter free.

Street parking is free. See page 7 for more information of this weeks magazine.
