Redlands Coast islands will benefit from a $6.95 million investment in infrastructure as part of Redland City Council’s 2025–2026 Budget.
Funding has been allocated to progress a number of projects, including a new community building, an expansion of the green seal program and renewal of two swimming enclosures.
Council’s investment in infrastructure for the islands builds on Council’s response to resident’s wishes for island roads to be sealed faster and for better community infrastructure and will help to make them even better places to live and visit.
Division 2 Councillor Peter Mitchell said funding had been allocated towards the renewal of the Amity Point swimming enclosure on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah).
“There is also funding for a drainage renewal project on Kennedy Drive near the Point Lookout Surf Lifesaving Club,” Cr Mitchell said.
Division 5 Councillor Shane Rendalls said residents on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands would benefit from the delivery of further works within the Weinam Creek Priority Development Area.
“The funding allocated in the 2025-2026 Budget will progress delivery of parking, a boat ramp, bus stops, parks and roads,” Cr Rendalls said.
Cr Rendalls said a number of projects had been funded for the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, including continuing the delivery of the green seal road program.
