The Scenic Rim is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of nature and community, with the much‑loved Kalbar Sunflower Festival returning from 1 – 3 May 2026.
Held in the country town of Kalbar, the annual event transforms several hectares of farmland into a golden sea of more than one million sunflowers, set against the region’s breathtaking mountain backdrop. Thousands of visitors are expected to attend across the three‑day festival, which has become a popular destination for families, photographers and country‑lovers alike.
New attractions this year include a giant sunflower maze to explore and “Dinosaur Land”, an interactive area designed to delight children with life‑sized prehistoric displays. The festival also features live music, food trucks, market stalls showcasing local produce, and a range of free children’s activities including creative workshops and a petting farm.
Organisers say the festival blends fun with purpose, raising funds for community causes and bringing people together with interactive experiences among the blooms.
Tickets go on sale in March, and visitors are advised to book early as previous years have sold out quickly.
