Families, educators, and curious minds of all ages are invited to the Redlands Coast Museum this Redlands Ekka Show Day, Monday 11 August 2025, for the return of the region’s most hands-on science event: Switch on to Science.
Running from 10am to 2pm, this annual interactive celebration brings vintage machines to life and turns curiosity into real-world exploration. Packed with over 30 educational displays and live demos, the event is perfect for families, school holiday adventurers, and OSHC excursion groups looking for a fun and inspiring day out.
“Switch on to Science shows how science works by letting people operate real vintage machines,” says Ross Bower, the museum’s Science Coordinator. “They’re engaging, easy to understand, and most importantly—fun!”
What’s On? A Celebration of Past, Present and Quantum Science
From Morse code to microscopes, and vintage phones to levitating balls—Switch on to Science 2025 invites guests to explore, experiment, and discover in the most interactive way possible. Visitors will be encouraged to get hands-on with old-school equipment, explore how technology has evolved, and see how science touches every part of our world.
