Scenic Rim Regional Council is celebrating rising talent Sophie Joyce, who has been named a 2026 Queensland Young Tourism Leader.
The 23-year-old began her career with Council just over a year ago as a trainee in Regional Events and has since progressed to Regional Events Officer, helping deliver major events including Scenic Rim Eat Local Month and the Winter Harvest Festival in Kalbar.
Sophie said the role has given her hands-on experience working with local producers and businesses to create tourism experiences that showcase the region.
Before joining Council, she worked in her family agritourism business and completed an Agribusiness degree at the University of Queensland, giving her a strong foundation in both farming and tourism.
Council praised Sophie’s achievement, saying her recognition highlights the value of local trainees progressing into industry leadership roles.
Sophie will now help inspire future tourism workers through schools and career events across Queensland.
Tickets for Eat Local Month go on sale 21 April 2026.
