Boost for Beach Safety on the Northern Gold Coast

Plans for a new surf lifesaving operations base at The Spit have been approved, marking a major boost for beach safety on the northern Gold Coast.

Backed by the City of Gold Coast, the purpose-built facility will provide a dedicated hub for rescue operations, training, and emergency management, replacing temporary and off-site arrangements currently used by lifesaving teams.

Surf Life Saving Queensland says the new base will improve response times and coordination, particularly during peak periods when beach visitation is high.

Located at one of the region’s busiest coastal areas, the facility is expected to play a key role in supporting both locals and visitors enjoying the coastline.

The project reflects ongoing efforts to cater for population growth while prioritising
