Ipswich artists and arts groups will have another opportunity to showcase their work, with expressions of interest opening soon for the next round of Ipswich Community Gallery exhibitions.
Applications will be open from August 31 to October 2, 2026, for 13 exhibition opportunities running from March 2027 to February 2028.
Ipswich City Council says at least 70 per cent of exhibitions during the period will feature artists or arts groups with a proven connection to the city.
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Deputy Chairperson Cr Marnie Doyle said the gallery, located at d’Arcy Doyle Place, played an important role in supporting Ipswich’s creative sector.
The commitment follows the current exhibition program, where 12 of 14 exhibiting artists or arts groups have a direct connection to Ipswich.
While applications are open to artists more broadly, preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a meaningful connection between their work and the local community.
Applications will be assessed on artistic quality, innovation, relevance, feasibility and diversity, with the selection criteria developed in consultation with the Ipswich Arts Advisory Group.
Successful artists will also benefit from philanthropic support from the Ipswich Arts Foundation, which will waive gallery hire fees.
Eligible exhibitors may additionally receive up to $2,000 in exhibition support through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
The program aims to continue putting Ipswich’s emerging and established creative talent in the spotlight.
