Ipswich is set to roll out the welcome mat for caravan and motorhome enthusiasts later this year, with the inaugural Let’s Go Ipswich Caravan and RV Expo receiving $14,000 in council sponsorship support.
The three-day event will be held at Willowbank Raceway from August 28 to 30, showcasing the latest in caravans, motorhomes, campervans and outdoor travel technology. Organisers expect more than 12,000 visitors to attend, delivering a boost to the local economy and reinforcing Ipswich’s reputation as a hub for major events and outdoor recreation.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council was proud to support the new expo through both financial assistance and in-kind services.
“Council will provide $4,500 in direct funding, along with an Event Impact Report valued at $9,500,” Mayor Harding said. “Ipswich is the perfect location for an event like this, given our natural beauty and love of outdoor adventure.”
She said the expo would not only showcase recreational vehicles but also attract visitors to explore the region and support local businesses.
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Deputy Chairperson Councillor Marnie Doyle said the event would offer far more than static displays.
“Visitors can expect educational sessions, product demonstrations, children’s activities, cooking shows, live music, motocross performances and even a custom-built off-road track,” Cr Doyle said.
On-site camping will also be available, encouraging multi-day attendance and a more immersive experience for guests.
Council says the expo reflects its ongoing commitment to growing Ipswich’s profile as a destination for major events and tourism investment.
