Logan Celebrates 30 Years of National Tree Day

Logan residents are invited to help grow a greener future by taking part in National Tree Day community planting events on Sunday, July 26, as Australia’s largest tree-planting initiative celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Logan City Council will host three volunteer planting sessions from 8am to 10am at Eagleby Wetlands, Bega Park in Kingston and Riverside Park at Logan Reserve.

The events aim to increase native vegetation, improve wildlife habitat and enhance local green spaces for future generations. Community members of all ages are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and contribute to the restoration of important natural areas.

Council will supply native plants, gloves and all planting equipment, with volunteers also treated to a free barbecue after the morning’s activities. Participants are encouraged to wear enclosed shoes, sun protection and bring a water bottle.

The Eagleby Wetlands site has been selected to boost native vegetation and create additional habitat for local wildlife, supporting biodiversity in one of Logan’s key environmental areas.

National Tree Day has inspired millions of Australians to plant trees and care for the environment over the past three decades, making it one of the country’s most successful community conservation initiatives.

The free planting sessions are suitable for families and children, offering a hands-on opportunity to make a lasting difference while celebrating 30 years of planting for the future.
