Logan police net 13 arrests in targeted high-risk offender blitz

Logan City Council police have charged multiple people following a coordinated operation targeting high-risk offenders and domestic and family violence respondents across the district.

The enforcement activity, conducted on 27 May under Operation Yankee Atlas, led to the execution of 13 warrants and the arrest of 13 adults, resulting in 36 charges.

The operation was led by the Logan Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit, working alongside Tactical Crime Squad officers and local police, and focused on locating offenders wanted for warrants, bail breaches and domestic and family violence-related offences.

Police said the initiative is part of ongoing proactive efforts to identify individuals assessed as posing an elevated risk to victim-survivors and the wider community.

Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles said the operation reinforced police commitment to disrupting cycles of violence and ensuring offenders are brought before the courts.

“No family should live in fear behind closed doors,” he said.

He said the operation aimed to intervene early by targeting people already sought by police, creating opportunities for engagement that might otherwise be missed, and helping connect victim-survivors with support services.

Among those charged was an 18-year-old Loganlea man accused of stealing offences and trespass, while a 32-year-old Underwood woman faces charges including wilful damage and assault occasioning bodily harm.

A 42-year-old Springwood man was charged with multiple counts of serious assault of a person over 60, and a 38-year-old Rochedale South man faces several domestic violence-related charges, including contravention of a protection order.

Police said Operation Yankee Atlas forms part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, reinforcing that violence in any form is unacceptable and urging affected people to seek help and report offending.
