Police have charged a 22-year-old Beenleigh man with multiple offences following the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in Hugh Muntz Park late one evening in December. Emergency services were called to the Logan park around 10:40 pm, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound and later died at the scene.
Investigators allege a vehicle linked to the incident, reported stolen days earlier, fled the scene and was later intercepted. The accused allegedly fled on foot into bushland before being apprehended by police, and was found “hiding underwater among reeds”.
He’s been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing explosives and receiving tainted property, and faces the Beenleigh Magistrates Court as detectives continue their inquiries.
